Places to eat Saint Germain

Hi

My close friend and I are spending a week in an apartment rented from yellowstay, hope it is ok as mixed reviews about the company although good reviews about apartment. we are there from next week. As we are on a limited budget would be interested if anyone could help with reasonibly priced places to eat, always best to have 1st hand reviews

Le Petit St. Benoit, on rue St. Benoit, which runs from Blvd. St. Germain towards the Seine. It%26#39;s just a couple of streets west of Deux Magots. Old fashioned bistro that has good food and reasonable prices, IMO. Opens at 7 pm and does not take reservations; it%26#39;s small and fills up fast.

Go a little bit away from area ie. rue Saint Jacques, rue Abbe de l%26#39;Epee, rue Gay Lussac.

If you have a one main course and a glss of wine you can eat for less than 20 euros just about everywhere. If you go to smaller places you can get main course + appetizer or main Course + dessert for that price.

I like le Mauzac, le Balzar and le Luxembourg for a Brasserie atmosphere. Rue Saint Andre des Arts has creperies and a few chinese eateries, there is also a chez Clement which is quite good at the end of Saint Andre des Arts.

At any rate, stay away from major attractions and your chances of getting a more affordable meal are higher.

Try Vagenende at 142 blvd St. Germain. They have a 2 course lunch and dinner for just under 20E. They have very good, simple food. I%26#39;ve eaten there several times and have always been pleased.

At 4, quai des Grands-Augustins, you will find a welcoming bistro, with creative cuisine, Ze Kitchen Galerie. Like many Parisian restaurants, it is closed Sundays.

We second Vagenende. Very good food, excellent service and reasonable prices for the location. We ate there twice (dinner one evening and lunch another day) and didn%26#39;t see any other obvious tourists even though it is smack dab in the middle of the Bvd. St. Germain tourist area.

I just remembered, we stopped in again late another evening to see if we could just order dessert (wife became addicted to the Floating Island). The maitre d%26#39; seemed to remember us and showed us to a prime table in the crowded restaurant even though he knew we were there only for the Floating Island.

I%26#39;m getting hungry just writing this. Can%26#39;t wait to go back!

Enjoy,

Matt
