Eurostar to London at 8am on a Sunday morning?

Good evening guys,

I%26#39;ve just started planning a trip for Paris and haven%26#39;t even booked a hotel (or hostel)! But I%26#39;m considering taking the 8am Eurostar to London on Sunday morning. Assuming I stay in the city centre (close to Gare du Nord), is 8am a realistic time for me to catch the train? Does the Metro open early on weekends?

Thanks,

Vikram

First of all, you dont need to stay close to Gare du Nord. You%26#39;re fine with public transportation on a Sunday morning, and the BEST thing about the Eurostar is that you arrive right into the city centre so you dont need to stay right at the location of the station. And right near GdN is not the coolest place to stay....

You can easily hop on the Metro Sunday morning, as it runs from 5:30am on Sundays and the trains comes about every 8-10 minutes so early. Remember you need to be at Eurostar 45 minutes in advance, but Gare du Nord is not exactly heaving with breakfast possibilities, so bring yourself a baguette for breakfast to eat while you wait!

Hope that helps!

8:00 is ok - depends if you are an early riser or not.

You can take metro and RER and a taxi on a Sunday morning is going to be fast and inexpensive too.

RER E is one stop to gare du Nord (stop is called Magenta) which means you can stay at all hotels near Madeleine/Opera/Gare Saint Lazare and be there in one stop.

Because of engineering work, there are often closures on some of the Tube lines in London on Sundays. Alternative routes exist but to be prepared have a look at www.tfl.gov.uk before setting off.

Thanks for all the great advice!

Don%26#39;t forget when it is 8 a.m. in Paris it is 7 a .m. in LOndon. It takes about 2 hours via chunnel so you would get in London about 9 a.m.
