Anyway to Avoid Multi-Country Car Rental Drop Off Penalty??

We are picking up a car on our last day in Paris and driving through the Loire Valley, Switzerland, Bavarian Region, Salzburg, and ending in Munich. We will have the car for a total of 17 days and find the daily rental cost to be much lower for this time period vs. train/flying.

Has anyone had any experience in avoiding the penalty (200 EUR) for picking up in one country (France) and dropping off in another (Germany in this case)?

Thank you for your help!

As you%26#39;re not actually too far from France, can you adjust your itinerary to finish with a day trip to Strasbourg (which is worth a visit anyway)? Drive there, drop the car, have lunch and tour round, then get a train back and have some beers with your savings?!

Have a look at leasing or buy backs... 17 days is the minimum...

it seems to me I%26#39;ve heard that drop off charges are much less than with a regular rental.

Here%26#39;s a link to start with:

Make sure to also check out Kemwel for lease/purchase deals.

Autoeurope and Kemwell are one in the same company.

If you are indeed looking for a lease option, you may additionally try:
