Hotel Concorde Lafayette and travel from CDG airport

Looking at one week in Paris - early September. The hotel they are offering in package is Hotel Concorde Lafayette - any comments or suggestions? If not suitable, any recommendations in same price range? We do not want to rent a car - is this hotel convenient? Also, what can we expect to pay CAD $ from airport to hotel. Thanks for any info.

One of the Air France buses goes straight from CDG to the Concorde Lafayette. As much as you may love taxis, this is one instance where it would be a foolish expenditure.

Convenient for what? It is on top of a metro station. That makes it convenient to me.

Kerouac2 : Isn%26#39;t this the one near Porte Maillot ? If so, the only thing that it has is that it on ligne 1, direct bus ride near a gym and a steak place but basically that is it. I used to go to the Gymnase Club (rue debarcadere) way out there and I really can%26#39;t recall anything memorable about the area. I guess if it is a fantastic deal, then one can just take the metro into the city.

Marilyn42 - what is your price range ?

Thanks for your replies. The address is 3 Place du General Koenig, and yes, they say it is at Porte Maillot. Cannot give an actual price range as we are looking at air fare %26amp; hotel (7 days) combined - $2700./for 2 from Toronto.

We will be looking to do the touristy things -- booking an organized tour of Paris, then returning to particular places of interest.

You should check what the airfare alone is. Lets say it is $1600 for the two of you. That leaves $1100 which might get you a nice studio in Le Marais or other central arrondissements which I%26#39;d rather do than stay out near Porte Maillot.

Porte Maillot is a perfectly acceptable area, but it is not %26quot;central%26quot;. This said, it is just 2 metro stations or %26amp; 15 minute walk from the Champs Elysées, so it would be hard to say that it is in the middle of nowhere.

The hotel Concorde Lafayette is not the place to stay to see Paris. It%26#39;s a good hotel if you%26#39;re attending a conference at the Palais des Congres beside it but otherwise you%26#39;re too far out from the centre of Paris. If you do end up staying there then take the Air France coach which will leave you at the door, but my advice is to look for a hotel in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th or 7th arrondissements. Then you can step out of your hotel and soak up the atmosphere of Paris, or why don%26#39;t you look into renting an apartment which is what we do with a very reputable company called www.alacarteparis.com and you%26#39;ll find lots of other apartment recommendations on this forum.

If you start looking at apartments (when you do that price check on the flights), you can look direct to owners:

and rental agencies we can vouch for:
