Poppytigi - hope you don%26#39;t mind me asking a further question on this subject. SelkieNice - what is the difference between the TER and TGV trains apart the price of the ticket!

|||

The TGVs will be slightly faster as they stop at fewer stations but not much faster because it isn%26#39;t a high speed track. Save your Euros and take a TER, they are more frequent and you don%26#39;t need to book in advance, which you do on the TGV.

|||

For local TGV journeys you can book a few mins before departure -you need to use the yellow machines in the station. The price for local TGV journeys doesn%26#39;t change

They are handy because;

a] they can fill the gaps in the service which occur at odd times of the day

b] They also tend to run when the local trains are on strike

c]they are almost always quiet and therefore more comfortable

d] faster

TGV to cannes is usually 25 mins

Most TER trains to cannes are 38 mins [though not all as some are restricted stop]

How long is the train journey from Nice to Ventimille?

Is this in Italy?

Is it worth the jouney?

Any suggestions for a day visit to Italy?

|||

vintimille/ventimiglia is just over the border in italy-50 mins by train from Nice

I am personally very fond of ventimiglia for a faty trip from Nice

but some folk like to go further down the coast to san remo etc which involves getting an italian local train or bus from ventimiglia
