Avignon or Marsielle by train to Paris

Taking a river cruise ending in Avignon. Can I take a train from there or Marsielle to Paris to spend a few days before flying back to New York. Can I book the tickets here in the US?

Take the TGV from Avignon to Paris. You can book the tickets in advance from the US. All TGV seats are reserved anyway so booking early is advisable:

www.voyages-sncf.com (in French only)

www.tgv-europe.com (select Canada or GB as your country, selecting the US will transfer you to Raileurope where you will pay more)

PREM or iDTGV tickets may be printed from your home computer. Otherwise opt to pickup your tickets in France at any SNCF service window or boutique. Present both the reservation number and the same credit card used to purchase the tickets.

The Avignon TGV station, which as a piece of mdern architecture is worth seeing in its own right, is a little way outside the city. There is a shuttle bus (navtte) from just inside the Walls near the Centre station and the post office. If your timing is such that you have to go to the train straight from the cruise, it would probably be easier to catch a taxi.
