I%26#39;m not a skier but am considering visiting Chamonix in late March/early April next year - are there plenty of hikes to do at this time of the year?

No, it%26#39;s still ski season then. Even the valley floor isn%26#39;t dependable for hiking till may at least (though sometimes spring does come earlier, but I wouldn%26#39;t count on it)
Late June is more like it for hiking really.

Totally agree with Firebug hiking is a no go at that time of year it is still skiing.
However, if it is just strolling around the mountains on snow shoes then I beleive there are organised treks.
