Orange Card vs Carnet

Sorry if this has already been asked.....we are in Paris for 6 days in Sept and have a 2 day museum pass. On day 4 we will be going to the Loire Valley. On day 5 it will be Versaille. So would it be better to buy a book of cannet or a 3 day pass? Thanks

My understanding is that the orange card is good Monday through sunday. Perhaps the 3-day pass you refer to is the Paris Visite, which is quite expensive.

I%26#39;d recommend the carnet.

I%26#39;ll second that suggestion, stick with the carnet.

There was a recent debate about this here.

Can I add to this that on our recent trip we had to get carnets for Saturday and Sunday before we could renew our navigo passes on the Monday. We were continually frustrated by the machines on the metro rejecting the carnet tickets and having to go to the office to get them validated. This also happened again the following Monday when we had to use carnets again. Does anyone else have this trouble?

tickets can be demagnitized if they are improperly stored -- or so I was told -- we had no problems but did see other people exchanging tickets

|||

If it%26#39;s anything like a hotel room keycard, your cell phone can demagnetize them, or having a magnetic closure on a pocket of your handbag could do it...

|||

If for some reason you are in possession of an unused ticket of any age that fails to work because it is demagnetized or wrinkled or for any other reason, simply present it at one of the RAPT service windows and it will be replaced free of charge.

|||

Grndma, I think you just got a defective batch of tickets. The only times I%26#39;ve had ticket not work was when I%26#39;ve reached into the wrong pocket and pulled out a used ticket, or inserted the ticket the wrong way.

Well it depends a lot of when people come to Paris.

In September, weather still very nice in Paris as we always hope to have what French call %26quot;Un Été indien%26quot;; which mean a long summer. So you could walk a lot outside or also try the Vélib%26#39; system (bike-hire rental service) from 5€ per week only :

Vélib%26#39;s website : http://www.en.velib.paris.fr/

The think is that to go to Versailles, with the %26quot;Carte Orange%26quot; you will need at least to take the zone 4 ticket (zone 5 will bring you closer from the castle) which would be more expensive.

That%26#39;s why as far as I am concerned, I would recommend you to buy tickets when you really need one or when your legs are begging you to take public transport !
