Renting a scooter (motorcycle), Calvi and other places?

Hello!

Does anybody know how is the situation with renting a scooter (motorcycle) in Calvi or other places.

Heard that the roads are quite bumpy. Would you recommend renting a motorcycle, and know about places that do it (prices etc)?

Cheers

When I was a rep there (admittedly some time ago) we didn%26#39;t recommend it and actually advised holiday makers not to hire a scooter or moped.

Why did you advise not to rent a motorcycle? (bad roads?, too expensive....)

Thank you for your reply

Most of the roads in Corsica are really good these days - I know main roads in the UK and mainland France that are far worse. If you go into the interior there are a number of minor unclassified roads that are twisty and a bit scary and some are not particularly well maintained, but judging from your other thread, you won%26#39;t be venturing into the mountains much so it shouldn%26#39;t be a problem.

I have a feeling that reps recommend that you don%26#39;t hire a motorbike (not just in Corsica!) because they%26#39;d rather you went on their pricey day-trips and don%26#39;t want the hassle of looking after you if you fall off and need hospitalisation. If you%26#39;re an experienced motorcyclist, I see no good reason why you shouldn%26#39;t hire one. DTR

I think it was because of the state of the roads back then but I suspect there may be an element of truth in what Derekethered says!

We have been to Corsica 14 times in the last 12 years. The roads have improved significantly in that time but the driving style of the Corsicans can at best be described as interesting, so I would advise caution especially if you go in the high season(July/August). Having said all that, I am an experienced motorcyclist myself and intend to hire a bike instead of a car when we visit next year. There is a place Calvi that rent a range of scooters, bikes and quads, it%26#39;s on the harbourside just near where the pleasure boats depart. Unfortunately I don%26#39;t know the name, but they look like a throughly professional outfit and seem to know their business. They also do escorted quad trips into the mountain villages.

bikerK: Any idea on prices? I%26#39;d be interested in something 650cc and up.....preferably BMW.

Thanks!

Does any one know of a bike/scooter rental place in or near Porto Vecchio?

Hi There,

I came across your post from 2008 about hiring a motorbike in Corisca. Did you have nay luck finding somewhere? We are looking for a BMW also, preferably in the south, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
