Itinerary Advice - Really Appreciate your Feedback

Hi

I have spent a fair bit of time reviewing the posts on TA and looking at a variety of websites and guide books for our trip to Paris early next year. We are now planning on staying in the Marais based on the feedback I have received. We are also going to buy a Carte Orange as we are going to be in Paris for a Mon-Sun week. I have put together a plan as follows -

Arrive Sunday

Eiffel Tower

Charms and Secrets Electric Bike Tour

Monday

Giverny and Monet%26#39;s Gardens

Musee L%26#39;Orangerie

Jardin de Tuileries

Hot Chocolate at Angelina%26#39;s

Tuesday

Versailles

Wednesday

Arc de Triomphe

L%26#39;Avenue des Champs-Elysees

Macaroons at Laduree on Champs-Elysees

Place de la Concorde

Musee du Lourve (in the evening as it is open late on Wednesday%26#39;s)

Thursday

Notre-Dame and Tower

La Saint-Chapelle

Conciergerie

Jardin du Luxembourg

Musee D%26#39;Orsay (in the evening as it is open late on Thursday%26#39;s)

Friday

Reims Day Trip

Saturday

Free Day

Seine Night Cruise

Sunday

Montmartre Walking Tour

Sacre-Coeur

Monday

Leave for Lyon

How dows this look? Am I trying to fit too much in on any days or does it look ok? We want to experience a bit of Paris. Is there anything else I should try and include or anything I should not?

Thanks for all your help :)

How early next year? Giverny does not open until April 1st.

All looks good except you may not complete Monday.

I love the evening hours at Museums. Just make sure something you %26quot;must see%26quot; is not closed-they close certain wings in evening.

Yes - good luck on Monday - let us know how that goes.

If you%26#39;re taking metro, you can do it. You will be tired on Wednesday if you are walking the whole distance.

Resting at the Jardin du Luxembourg before D%26#39;Órsay is a good idea especially if you don%26#39;t actually walk the distance between the two (still haven%26#39;t got the hang of this international keyboard - should be no accent there!)

We were at the D%26#39;Orsay for an amazing six hours, and were rushing through the first floor when it closed. It could be done in less time though - but to do it slowly and really see the top floor takes at least 2 hours. The first and top floors are simply amazing.

Don%26#39;t forget to eat! And take your water bottles and sunscreen!

Thanks for the advice. I will reassess the earlier days. My DH is not hugely into lengthy visits to art galleries and museums so I don%26#39;t think we will be at Orsay as long as you were.

We are going to get the metro around some time so that should help with the distances.

Thanks again. Appreciate all the advice

Actually, I think it looks pretty reasonable except for Monday, which is a bit ambitious, I think. You%26#39;ve left an open day on Saturday. Whatever you don%26#39;t accomplish prior to then, you can fill in on that day if you%26#39;re of a mind to. There are other open areas on your itinerary as well. Montmartre can be but doesn%26#39;t have to be an all-day thing IMO. Just don%26#39;t rush through things. If you do, you won%26#39;t remember a thing about Paris.

Just returned from Paris yesterday afternoon, we had a great week. On Tuesday we went to Giverny. I thought we could do this in a half day but this took the entire day.

We departed Gare St. Lazare on the 10:56(?) train to Vernon and returned on the 17:46 train to Paris. Unless you are planing to take an organized bus tour to Giverny, you will need to use the entire day to get there and back. You should also be prepared to stand in line to buy tickets, stand in line for the bus to Giverny and back to Vernon.

The train ride was just 1 hour, but there were so many people on the day we visited, that we spend 45 minutes waiting to get on to a shuttle but to Giverney, which was so full we had to stand. We also waited over 1 hour in line to get tickets to get into the Museum and Gardens.

Be aware that many of the organized bus tours that visit are not allowed to visit the Museum %26amp; gardens around the house, they are only permitted to visit the water gardens.

My best suggestion is GO EARLY otherwise be prepared for LONG LONG waits.
