Help with our Day 2 Itinerary

We are visiting a little corner of the Loire Valley in late August (the only time we can take off).

After reading many posts here on TA, I cut down our Day 2 to the following:

Check out of the hotel in Chambord, drive to Valencay, visit the chateau -- all that by 14:00, incl. lunch somewhere.

Drive to Chanenceaux, check in at Le Roseraie, visit the chateau – by 18:00, incl. some food intake.

Go for a balloon ride and do the night walk/light show at Chenonceau in the evening/night. The balloon ride is not booked and may end up not happening.

I am now afraid I may have planned our day 2 too light on sights. Could you suggest little stops between Chambord and Valencay, and then between Valencay and Chenonceau? We are mostly interested in picturesque views (cute, as my daughter would put it) and quiet relaxation for this leg of the trip. Also, what are some places to have lunch and light early dinner: lunch around Valencay, light dinner around Chenonceau (except Le Roseraie).

Thank you.

Not knowing what day 1 entails would make suggested changes to day 2 virtually pointless.

Generally, I find the following locations as among the best of those east of Tours and believe these should be included in any 2 day itinerary:

Blois - the Château

Chambord

Chenonceau

Cheverny

Sorry, I should have included the rest.

Day 1 is rent the car in Paris (I know, scary, but I gave up arguing with the driver: she is 26 and doesn%26#39;t think it can be that hard), Paris - Chambord, visit the chateau, drive to Cheverny, visit the chateau, back to Chambord. We%26#39;ll try to either stop in Blois on the way to Chambord or visit Blois in the evening after Cheverny, or visit it on our day 3 when we leave Chenonceau for Giverny on our way back to Paris.

So basically we are planning to see Chambord, Cheverny, Valencay, and Chenonceau + Blois, + any place we can fit in, + maybe stop at Chartres is we are doing well on our drive up to Giverny. The plan is to be back in Paris by 20:00 on day 3 to check in at the hotel. Car due back next morning.

So, any ideas for short worthwhile stops along the way from Chambord to Valencay and from Chambord to Chenonceaux?
