I like the blvd Raspail organic market. It runs on Sunday morning. Metro stop: Rennes

Here is a list of all the markets in Paris:

I also love to visit La Grande Epicerie beside the Bon Marché department store. It%26#39;s not open on Sundays so you%26#39;ll need to go on Saturday.

I rarely come home with less than 4 bags of %26quot;ingredients%26quot;. For example, French boullion cubes are wonderful for enhancing your soups and stews. It%26#39;s nothing at all like the salty, tasteless stuff in the US. They have wonderful spices, sauces, grains and other great things that will make your friends vie for a dinner invitation for months after your trip.

I would recommend the Richard Lenoir Sunday market at the Bastille. You can get all kinds of hot, prepared dishes at the outdoor markets: roast chicken, Paella, grilled meats, lebanese pizzas, deep fried cod balls from the carribean and portugeuse pastries are just some of teh regulars to be found.

If you opt for the raspail market (great, but smaller and less traditional) there is an excellent soup guy, potatoe pancakes that are onion-y an dcheesy and to die for, crepes and if the season is right, an oyster shucker.

The rue Montorgueil market street is good, but the Faubourg Saint Denis market street is even better, and would have the best deals for cooked food, as it is much less bourgeois than Montorgueil. It is also in the Kurdish/Indian neighborhood, so it has a lot of exotic specialties besides the standard French fare.

We discovered this market on our first trip to Paris while walking from the 6th to the Eiffel Tower

It%26#39;s open on Sat (and Thurs) and has several stands selling prepared food. There is a great crepe man there.

Hi;

A very good market for a Saturday morning is the one on Ave President Wilson in the 16th arrondissement between metro Alma-Marceau and metro Iena.

A note on markets during the July-August break: many regular food vendors are out of town on vacation. The markets fill with clothing vendors.

There will still be plenty of food vendors, but the amount of clothing vendors is not indicative of the normal make-up of these markets.

I%26#39;ll second the Richard Lenoir... Between the sea salt (and salted butter caramels), the foie gras and the bakery with the apricot tarts - its worth the trip from anywhere in Paris! I only brought 1 can of foie gras then ended up bringing it to my Parisian childhood au pair%26#39;s house for dinner. It was so good, I had to wait for them to set up the stand the Sunday I flew out so I could stock up on more for home.

The paella and roasted chickens looked amazing, but I didnt try either.

You may wish to pick up a copy of: %26quot;Paris in a Basket%26quot; ISBN: 3-8290-4624-3 . An absolutely invaluable resource.
