Good area to stay outside Paris?

Hello,

We will be driving to Paris from London and then on to Belgium... so looking for an area to stay outside Paris for one night. We would need a hotel with parking facilities, and an area from where we could take a train into central Paris to do some sightseeing. We have been to Paris before, so just want to spend a day revisiting the favourite sights. Thanks!!

Hmmmm... this does not really seem logical. How many days are you staying %26#39;near%26#39; Paris? There are dozens of hotels ringing Paris, just on the outer side of the Périphérique ring road, but most of them do not have free parking. Then again, they have access to the metro, so they might be cheaper than staying farther out with free parking and having to pay more for the train into the city.

What is your budget?

Look for a hotel near the boulevard peripherique (Ring road around the old Paris), hotel located within or just outside the ring road. We drove on that one and it wasn%26#39;t as bad as people make it out to be. don%26#39;t look for a place in the boonies..

There are several Sofitels near the Peripherique that have free parking. They are listed as conference centres.

Your journey seems illogical to me. Assuming you will arrive in France through Calais, you will be driving 280km to Paris outskirts, then about 300km back to Belgium.

If you go direct from Calais to Brussels for example, it%26#39;s only 200km.(approx).

YOu may do better to go direct to Belgium and take the train to Paris.

Anyway, for hotels around Paris, take a look at www.accorhotels.com -- and if that doesn%26#39;t suit you, try www.louvrehotels.com -- that%26#39;s the other big French chain.

You might try Bussy St Georges on the RER-A line, a couple stops before Disney. We walked thru it twice to go to the golf course, looks like one of those %26#39;new towns%26#39;. A couple of hotels across from the RER, which takes about 40 minutes or so to reach Paris. It%26#39;s also off the A4 highway.

- Situated underneath the hotel, and only accessible to hotel guests, we have a private car park at your disposal. It is under video surveillance 24 hours a day and payable at the rate of 10 €/night, upon availability.

I would high recommend Dinant, a town in Belgium that%26#39;s very %26quot;French%26quot;.

Thanks all!
