Train tickets- buying in advance vs. day of

hi!!!

I am taking the train from Paris to Toulouse (staying a day) and then Toulouse to Barcelona. Does anyone know the price difference when buying a ticket in advance and buying it the same day? I am not sure of the exact time and day that I want to travel so I don’t want to book in advance, but I will if there is a big price difference. Thank you!!

The difference can be quite substantial, so better to book in advance. In case of Toulouse (since it is long distance) it can be up to three-four times higher on a day of travel.

Here you can find some tips about rail travel in France - europetrainsguide.com/200907168/Countries/Fr…

You can get an idea of the price difference by using www.tgv-europe.com but you must say you are from Great Britain. If you say you are from USA, get get switched to another site which has much higher prices and does not list all the trains.

If you ask for a Paris-Toulouse journey tomorrow, you will get the price for buying just before travel. Then ask for a journey in October, and you will see how much can be saved.

Better prices in my experience on the SNCF site in french. I would do the TGV site first for comparison.

The prices on tgv-europe.com and voyages-sncf.com are identical *provided that* you tell the tgv-europe site that you are from GB.

Could the price differnce be do to the time I am traveling (July vs. September?

No. The price difference is because very cheap seats are available when the tickets first go on sale. As they sell out, another batch of seats becomes available at a rather higher price. And so on, until eventually the price is very very much higher.
