Résidence Pierre & Vacances Cannes Beach - Cannes

Has anyone ever stayed here? Thinking of going there in November for a month? just to chill - any idea what weather would be like, and is it easy to get around without having a car?

In November it should be possible to find more central accommodation if you want to stay for a month.

November weather can be unpredictable. Days can be pleasantly warm and sunny, but statistically it is also one of the wettest months.

You will be able to get around without a car

Hope this helps

Although the guidebooks will tell you that November is the worst month weatherwise, and as S007 says, statistically about worst for rain, I am constantly surprised by how pleasant it is - at least in Antibes - which is just down the road from Cannes. I usually swim up to mid November when sea temp is still 16c - around same as sea around Ireland in August. Some hardier folk such as our many yachties are still to be seen in shorts. The rain tends to fall all at once in heavy downpours rather than be prolonged. In the sun it is warm and you can sit out of doors to eat and go for long walks which would be impossible, say in August, due to heat.

As to Pierre et Vacances I dont know the Cannes site but that at Antibes is very well appointed if somewhat expensive. In addition its main added value features like pools will be closed in November. For a long stay you will almost certainly do better if you shop around.

Re the car , unless you want to visit the back country or remote hill villages, you can get everywhere you want along the coast by train or bus at minimal expense.

Agree with WB.

Rain on the French Riviera isn%26#39;t at all like rain in Dublin. The downpours if they occur are usually short-lived and there is none of the dampness, endless gloomy days etc. so prevalent in the UK/Ireland. Within an hour of rain it can be back to clear blue skies.

Cannes has an average of 300 sunny days a year. In November it can be extremely pleasant to sit outside and eat during the day and you will see sunbathers on the beach all year round.

I am one of those who walks round in a t shirt even in December, but by then many of the locals will be wearing their fur coats..
