Hotel Tolbiac, 122 rue de tolbiac, Paric

Hi,

Has anyone stayed in this hotel? I%26#39;ve seen it%26#39;s website and I%26#39;ve read some rewievs. But I need an opinion from someone who have stayed there not very long ago.

Thanks

Doubtful you will get any responses... Chinatown is not where very many people visiting Paris choose to stay - it%26#39;s quite a ways off-center.

The hotel reception closes at 9pm - are you comfortable with that?

Also, rooms share the hallway toilet which you may expect for the prices.

Have you looked at Hotel de Nesle in the 5th, or Hotel Marignan or Hotel du Commerce? All very inexpensive, with choice of ensuite or not...

Travellnutty, the OP asked for a budget hotel (in her first posts she said %26quot;I%26#39;m looking a very cheap hotel - for less than 45 /double%26quot;). As the prices of the 3 hotels you recommend are between 75 and 100 €, I am afraid it will be too expensive.

Julia, at the Tobiac, you%26#39;ll have private toilets and bathroom for 48€, it is really cheap for Paris.

But I suggest that you consider the Hotel des Voyageurs that previous posters mentionned. It will cost you 55 €, that is also very cheap, but you will be more centrally located near Montparnasse and the rue Daguerre, moreover you already had a great feedback from a traveller who recently stayed there. I think it is worth to add 7 € a night.

Thank you. I just wanted to know wheter there %26#39;s anyone who HAS BEEN this particular hotel.

And I have seen their website so there is no need to describe it for me;)

Maybe there is someone who knows it? I really can%26#39;t stay in more expensive one.

I beg to differ - directly from each websites, single rates are:

www.hoteldenesleparis.com/ 55-65€

(yes, a bit higher but far more centrally located)

www.hotel-marignan.com/ 47-49€ min / 60-75€ max

www.commerce-paris-hotel.com/ 39 / 49 / 59€

Hi JuliaDo

I think you have probably got all of the answers about that hotel from Paris forum of TA now - no-one who has answered either of your posts has stayed there. It is unlikely that anyone who posts regularly on TA has stayed recently at the Hotel Tolbiac, or they would be likely to have posted a hotel review on TA and/or mentioned it on the forum.

Since the Hotel Tolbiac is the one and only hotel in Paris that has your interest and your last post makes clear that you do not welcome suggestions about other hotels, maybe you should you should seek feedback on other sites where there might be people who have stayed at that hotel? Otherwise, why not just take the bull by the horns and book the room there and report back to us and write a review? I look forward to reading your review of the hotel.

Only Lyon, thanks for pointing out that the Hotel Tolbiac 45 Euro pn rate does not include an ensuite WC, I had not noticed that when I looked at the website. In that case, since Julia clearly does not mind sharing a hall toilet, she could look at the Hotel des Allies site that I mentioned in my first post on this thread, which has doubles with share toilets for 45 Euros and is in a much better location than the Hotel Tolbiac.

Hello,

I stayed at the Tolbiac Hotel in June and it was really nice.

Cheap, but clean and very friendly staff.

A cute little courtyard for your breakfast (in summer) and internet.

They were renovating an we got one of the ‘non renovated’ rooms, but even those where fine.

The area is not that spectacular, but the metro will get you anywhere in no time and I loved to walk back at nigt from the Seine and just find my way.

Hi Nikita,

That must have been quite a change from Parisaddress apartments but a very good price.

Are the photographs of rooms on the website of rooms that have already been renovated or do they look like the room that you were given in June 2007? How many separate WCs were there on your floor and were there separate WCs and showers for women and men? Is there an elevator/lift for the 1st to 5th floor?

I agree with the Marignan recommendation. It%26#39;s a great place to stay, dirt cheap and in teh center of town.

I had a boyfriend on the Rue Tolbiac, it%26#39;s a decent area but very residential.

Can%26#39;t say anything for the hotel, sorry.

thank you Nikita. I%26#39;m interested in this hotel, because it is cheap and it doesn%26#39;t look soo terrible on the website ( yes I know it not always like on the pic) However I%26#39;ve looked through lots of sites,I%26#39;ve made hundreds of phonecalls and usually they are more expensive. And if a hotel is very close to the center and very cheap at once I find it suspect :)

still something tells me to book this one. Off course I will write my review after.

re: Hotel Tolbiac (Chinatown) vs. Hotel Marignan (Latin Qtr)

It%26#39;s interesting that you will choose a virtually unknown hotel in an inconvenient location for its %26#39;web looks%26#39; over a known hotel in a great location that has 19 reviews for 2007 alone, nearly all of them positive.

But you go ahead - it%26#39;s your money and your experience.... Do explore the hotel area as not many tourists visit it, and it could be interesting. Otherwise, you and your mother will be on a bus or metro several times a day, especially if she needs to rest in between bouts of sightseeing.
