Hotel Terrass (Montmartre)

Hotel has good reviews here--anyone stayed there lately? I have visited but never stayed in Montmartre--is the area of the Terrass in the more %26quot;villagey%26quot; area on the hill and farther from Place du Tertre, etc? Any other recommendations for a few nights in Montmartre (too few for an apt)? Thanks so much.

Yes, the Terrass is right next to rue Caulaincourt, one of the absolutely most charming streets in the entire city. The area is quite bourgeois and upscale, which is surprising consiering the proximity to Place de Clichy and the red light district along boulevard de Clichy. The secret? The Montmartre cemetery makes a very effective buffer zone.

I stayed there in March. It%26#39;s a splendid hotel. I would advise not staying in a room on the top (6th?) floor. There is a fair bit of noise in the evenings from the rooftop restaurant.

Thanks so much--I think I will try this out in Nov. Seems like a good base from which to explore more of the area, and I%26#39;d also like to see more of the ethnic markets, etc, close by. Again, thanks.

the hotel is at the end of the street that runs up to the Abbesses metro stop and the entire street is full of restaurants -- the hotel is across from the Montmartre Cemetery and looks like it would have a nice view -- we had an apartment on Rue Caulaincourt this summer and walked by there often on our way home (our favorite Montmartre restaurant %26#39;Le Hommes Tranquille%26#39; is down Rues des Martyrs from Abbesses

It seems like a pretty good location

Thanks again!
