hotel visit for the day recomendations???

we are really looking forward to arriving nice on saturday, had the idea of visiting a good hotel for the day as we are staying in an apartment without a pool. sometime in the week.

Any recomendations would be greatly appreciated, good clean hotel for cocktails/beer and a nice lunch. thanks

So...are you looking specifically for a hotel with a pool? Price range?

|||

yeah just a day pass is all we are after, somewhere to lounge for a few hours with a good vibe.

|||

oh and price is not really a problem for the right place. pool is prefered but if there was somewhere great without a pool we would be up for that too.

Most of the hotels with pools (surprisingly few have pools) in Nice are not open to non-residents.

The Clarion Grand Aston is open to non-residents, on Jean Jaures. The pool is not that big. They charge about 18 euros for the day 10am - 6pm or includes a light snack/drink for about 24 euros. I had the idea to do the same myself - and popped in today to check.

The Meridien Hotel used to be open to non-residents, not sure if this still holds true, it was a bit dearer than the Grand Aston when I checked a couple of years ago. The Colonial cafe/restaurant on the roof top gets good reviews.

IYou could have a fabulous day at the Club Dauphin, Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat, day guests - 75 euros entry to the pool:

thanks for those speedy replies,very helpful.

What about the best private beach then for loungers and drinks? Maybe beau rivage looks decent enough.

|||

Beau Rivage is good, so is Castel, maybe have a look at the new Hi Beach too.

|||

Club Dauphine certainly would fit the bill - luxury day pass - great pool and good scene - nice restaurant and teriffic spot.... that would be my recomendation too.

Of the Nice hotels recommended, the pool atop the Le Meridien has perhaps the best view: the pool area looks straight across the Promenade des Anglais to the Mediterranean.
