transferring from gare du nord to gare de lyon

I am going on holiday in 1 weeks time and have only 53 minutes to get between these two stations. I am going to book a taxi to be waiting for me at the eurostar arrivals but then need to get to the TGV at the gare de lyon trvelling to Aix en Provence. Does anyone have any advice for me as I have never been to either station. If I have a rough idea of the platform the TGV train is likely to be leaving from this may help.

If you take the RER D, it is direct from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon. Travel time is 8 minutes, and the price of a single ticket is 1.50€.

But by all means, feel free to book a taxi if you want to risk missing your train to Aix.

thanks very much for the advice have decided to take the rer d as suggested. If we just miss one how long is it to the next?? i.e. if one is just about to leave do we need to run for it?

During the day, there is an RER D in fewer than every 10 minutes.

The only extra information that you need to know is that the RER station is at the opposite end of the station from the Eurostar platforms. So when you get off the train, turn left and go all the way to the other end of the station (yes, there are innumerable signs that will indicate where to go).

thats great, thanks very much for all your help.

Just a warning. TGVs are normally reserved seats so you can%26#39;t always just miss a train and get on the next one. Last time I tried that I had to plead my case to the agent (in French) and they issued a %26quot;rupture uncontrollable%26quot; ticket but it took a bit of doing to make that change because it was a busy weekend. They also ended up routing me through a bunch of local cities. The original trip was Paris to Montpellier and the new route was Paris to Lyon to a bunch of Corail trains so the trip took 9 hours!!

thanks for the warning.. we will make sure we run as fast as we can so that we don%26#39;t miss the connection. :)
