ratestogo.com offers no better than hotel list prices???

good morning/afternoon, on checking prices on ratestogo.com for Best Western Etoile St Honore, prices being listed as list price is euro 251 and late booking special offer is euro 139

yet when checking prices with another website 123france.com, and requesting a rate, it is the same as the %26quot;special offer%26quot; on ratestogo, e.g. 139 euros.

has anybody else used ratestogo and found the same?

I%26#39;ve never checked with or used %26#39;..ratestogo..%26#39; but this is not at all an uncommon occurence. Just because a vendor has a %26#39;.com%26#39; after it and a web site doesn%26#39;t necessarily mean that they%26#39;re offering any bargains. Especially when booking hotels, you should alway cross-reference and compare the prices with the hotel itself and other known reservations sites to make sure that your getting the best deal and that there are now omitted details. CAVEAT EMPTOR

I have used ratestogo.com once before and indeed found their rates were substantially lower than hotel normal prices.

in this instances, it seemed to involve only hotels from the Best Western group: not sure why.

I have booked another hotel with ratestogo and having checked the hotel website price list, have saved euro 60 per night.

I%26#39;m not sure about 123france and it may be like France Hotel Guide which has hotel listings but prospective guests deal directly with the hotels. Anyway, it%26#39;s always a good idea to book directly with the hotel than through a third party. I read quite a few complaints about guests who booked rooms through reservation agencies and were not given nice rooms or were bumped.

I usually contact the hotels directly. I ask them what their best rate is, then I ask them what kinds of special discounts might be available.

I will never use Ratestogo again. Due to a delayed flight, we needed a room in Berlin 18. july, and booked through Ratestogo.com the same day. Got confirmation and invoice - everything was OK.

When we arrived The Hilton in Berlin, nothing was booked. The hotel was full, and they called Ratestogo from the reception for an explanation. No help or excuse from Ratestogo. The end of the story was that we had to take train to the coast to find a room - late at night. So never again ratestogo!
