My husband and I will be travelling from Tours on 6/29/09, most likely via train to Rennes. We are trying to figure out the best way to get from Tours (or Rennes) to St. Malo (where we have a hotel booked) to Mont St. Michel, and then back to St. Malo. We have noted that rental cars are really expensive, but are not sure if there is a reliable public transportation option for traveling between these locations. Thanks for any and all help!

Hi Alison,
I am not familiar with Tours and how to get to Rennes but there is a direct train that takes 1 hour from Rennes to St Malo. It would then be a either a hire car for the day to see Mont St.Michel or a guided bus tour.
I also believe that there is a guided bus tour from Rennes direct to Mont St.Michel - Try the following website for details:
