Turning to the Experts (Latin Qtr Hotels)

I visit Paris often, but always stay a week or more and rent an apartment, so cannot really help my friend who has sent the following in an e-mail to me. Let me know your thoughts so I can give him advise and thanks in advance!

Qte:

%26quot;My son has decided to escort us to a three day/two night visit to Paris the last couple of days this month. He%26#39;s been looking into hotels in Paris and has been finding some of the information to be less than enlightening.

Considering that you have been known to spend a few days there, yourself, I was wondering if you knew of any decent and reasonably priced hotels in the Latin Quarter, close to Notre Dame?%26quot;

Basic but fine and exactly in the area you want is Hotel Marignan on Rue de Sommerard.

There are several other budget hotels on the same street. One thing though - there is no elevator - so a room on the lower floors would probably be best.

Hôtel du Collège de France on rue Thénard, kinda close to the one mentioned in the previous reply to your question.

It has a lift and you can have singles for around 90€. Very nice hotel, exxcellent service, close to Notre-Dame, Métro Cluny-Sorbonne, St=Germain and the Latin Quarter.

Your friend may have booked their hotel by now, but I also highly recommend Hotel du College de France, 7 rue Thenard in the Latin Quarter.

I have stayed there 3 times. It%26#39;s not a Westin, but that%26#39;s why I like it. It has beautiful French charm -- large windows that open out -- with modern rooms. At least they were renovating all of them the last time I was there. The staff are really friendly, it%26#39;s moderately priced, and you can%26#39;t beat the location. Just steps from Blvd. Saint Germain and Place St. Michel and a few blocks from Notre Dame.
