We%26#39;ve looked at flying to Nice and taking ferry or inconvenient airport changes in Paris. Any other suggestions on the most affordable way to get from the US to Corsica (preferably Calvi)?

Hi Duncan, You could take a look at continental airways Newark to Bristol Friday or Saturday flight, change at Bristol for the %26quot;Easy jet%26quot; Sunday morning flight 7 0clock direct to Corsica.
One problem, the %26quot;easy jet%26quot; flight only goes to Bastia So you would need a car to get to Calvi.
As for the prices.. easy jet flights are currently around about £130 Bristol to Bastia return.
the earlier you book, the cheaper the flight.
I recently had a quote off continental.. Bristol to Newark, around £340 return.

There seem to be lots of flights into Corsica from Italy. You could look at changing somewhere there if you could get a cheap transatlantic flight. There are also flights from other European countries eg GErmany. Try one of the webites that gives you non direct flights.

Verity i%26#39;d be interested to hear more about the cheap flights from Italy. I%26#39;m aware of Ryanair from Bergamo to Figari but are there some to the north of the island?
Duncan H - there are also direct easyjet flights to Corsica from geneva, london, lyon and manchester but not very often - mostly sundays. you could try a flight from the states to one of those.

Balanina - I thought I had noticed flights from Italy landing at various airports in Corsica over the years. I didn%26#39;t mean to say they were cheap, and I haven%26#39;t looked at the cost. What I meant was, that it might be worthwhile the poster getting a cheap transatlantic flight into a European hub and then getting a flight from there to Corsica. French and Italian airports seemed like good candidates. Or I suppose a cheap flight to Gatwick plus the Easyjet to Bastia might work.

It%26#39;s always been a mystery to me as to why there haven%26#39;t been flights between Corsica and Italy, especially as they are so close. But they have been few and far between over the years and our various Italian friends tend to come by ferry, or if they have to fly, then via Nice.
However there are some new summer routes this year from Explora Italia (www.exploraitalia.it), as follows:
Rome - Bastia (Thurs %26amp; Sun, til 1st Sept)
Milan - Bastia (Weds %26amp; Sat, til 1st Sept)
Albenga - Bastia (Weds, Thurs %26amp; Sat, til 24 Oct)
Milan - Calvi (Weds %26amp; Sat, til 1st Sept)
Don%26#39;t know if they are cheap or not.

thanks Nicky that%26#39;s really useful - not cheap (207 euros plus taxes) but good to have a midweek flight milan-calvi
shame they don#%26#39;t go on beyond september
