Les Andelys or Giverny

At the end of our vacation in October we plan to stop at Giverny after a day in Honfleur. We are traveling with another couple that want to stay in one place for two night rather than one night in a different town (Honfleur).

I noticed Les Andelys. Would it be better to spend two nights in Les Andelys and do a day trip to Giverny or two nights in Giverny and do a day trip to Les Andelys?

I guess which town has the most to see to therefore make that town the base.

Thanks

I%26#39;d toss a coin to choose, except Les Andelys has a greater choice of hotel.

Or you could stay in Vernon, which is between the two.

Last June we spent two nights in Les Andelys at Chaine d%26#39;Or Hotel. This gave us one full day during which we visited Giverny first thing in the morning, then drove to Rouen for a couple of hours, and finished up our day with some pretty villages north of Les Andelys. This worked out well. I am not sure what you would do for a full day at Les Andelys. It is beautifully situated at a bend of the Seine and has a great ruined castle, but if there%26#39;s a lot more there, we missed it. We visited the castle late afternoon of the day we arrived. Giverny is closed one day, I think it is Monday.

Giverny is now open every day.
