D-Day Battle Tours - is it gruelling?

I want to take the one-day D-Day Battle Tour in Normandy, but I%26#39;m afraid it will be a gruelling experience (too much walking, too little time for reflection or eating, etc.). Does anyone have experience with this tour?

I don%26#39;t have experience with that tour company, but have been doing some investigations of my own for an upcoming trip.

It seems that D-Day Battle Tour focuses on American Sector. It may not matter to you, but I found the following on the Juno Centre website, which lists tours that focus on the Canadian Sector (including stops on Juno Beach).

(the list is near the bottom of the page).

Given your login name, I thought you might find that helpful.

Sorry - apparently the code for linking a website didn%26#39;t work (and you cannot go back and edit your messages).

My wife and I took a one day tour in October 2005. Yes, it is a long day (we got on the bus at 7:30 am and did not return to Paris until 8:30 pm), but we really enjoyed it. The morning was spent traveling to Caen (we were able to bring coffee and some rolls on the bus for breakfast). In the morning we toured the D-Day Musuem and had lunch there. Nothing special, but the cheese and fruit for dessert were excellent). Then we took the bus through several small villages to the coast and some of the few remaining German gun placements. There was some walking here - but not too much. Everyone could go at their own speed. We then traveled to Omaha Beach and on to the American Cemetary. Very moving. Had about 1 1/2 hours to walk and reflect. The tour then went to the towns surrounding the British and Canadian landing beaches. We got another break to pick up snacks and shop for souveniers. On the way back to Paris we stopped at a rest area. Nothing like I%26#39;ve seen in North America - more like a small market with lots of choices for a decent small dinner on the bus. As noted it was a full day - but we%26#39;really glad we took the tour. My father was in the Navy and my wife%26#39;s was in the Army Air Corp during WWII so we had lots to talk to them about when we got home.

We did a one day tour of Normandy with Sabine who owns Paris Authentique. She picked us up at our apartment and returned us there. She has a private minibus and she is familiar with the area. Basically she laid out what we could see, including the Caen Museum. We picked what we wanted to visit. Had a very good lunch and an informative day. I admit we both slept on the way back to Paris. After reading tripadvisor comments and Rick Steves recommendation the D-day battle tour looks good to me. I am hoping to take a 1-day trip from Paris. The D-day battle tour%26#39;s address is in St Mere Eglise. Does anyone know if there is a train station at St Mere Eglise? If not, what%26quot;s the best way to get there if not renting a car?
