Road Bike Hire in Paris

Hi all

This question might be a little bit too specialist for a TA forum, but thought i%26#39;d give it a try. My friend and I are looking to go for a week%26#39;s cycling holiday starting from Paris in Sept and are looking for a company that we can hire decent road bikes from in Paris. Thought this would be less hassle than carrying our bikes on the London Underground/Eurostar etc.

Can anyone recommend somewhere?

Just to clarify, not after typical tourist/resident bikes dotted around Paris, but road bikes (racers) that we can hire for a week.

Many thanks in advance, appreciate it.

Matt x

As no-one else has replied (possibly watching the tour stage on the Ventoux), I%26#39;ll have a go. I can%26#39;t find anywhere online advertising road bike rental in Paris itself, so I wondered if you know where you want to ride to, to try from that end. Most of the rentals I%26#39;ve come across in France tend to be VTT (mountain bikes) or VTC (hybrids), with a very few road bikes in places near the big mountain climbs.

Do you know the seat61 website for info about bikes on trains? http://www.seat61.com/bike-by-train.htm It sounds marginally better than some of the budget airlines which will only take stand-by bookings for bikes.

I was looking into this at one point myself although in the end opted against the idea (change of itinerary). There are a few places in Paris to rent bikes, although for what you are looking for most don%26#39;t carry those kinds of bikes. You can try Paris Bike Company www.parisbikeco.com or just do a google search and you will get a few results to sift through. I know Fat Tire doesn%26#39;t have what you are looking for.
